Peter Pan Party Part Two

Here's Corgan's Peter Pan Party Part 2, The details.

FOOD!  I was originally going for a Tinkerbell Tea Party thing, but didn't really commit.  Still, I think it turned out quite lovely.  Can't go wrong with fresh flowers and yummy food!

These are the favors I made (but forgot to hand out-oops!) Some pixie dust in mini salt shakers with the words "I believe" written on them, and some felt Lost Boy Headbands.

 A few details.

I put these signs on the doors to each room dedicated to each location.

And there you have it, our Peter Pan Birthday Party!  Corgan and Nole had so much fun with Neverland, we left it all up for a week!  This was one of my favorite parties we've done so far.

See Part One here.

Corgan's Peter Pan Birthday Party Part One

For some reason Blogger isn't letting me post this, so I'm going to have to try it as two separate posts.   Here's Part 1, Neverland.

I asked Corgan months ago what he wanted for his fourth birthday party.  Peter Pan of course! So here it is...

"There it is," said Peter calmly.  "Where, where?"  "Where all the arrows are pointing."  Indeed a million golden arrows were pointing it out to the children, all directed by their friend the sun, who wanted them to be sure of their way before leaving them for the night.   ~J.M. Barrie

Second star to the right and straight on 'til morning!

Dress up clothes to play all the parts from the story!

"The Jolly Roger" - the mast and flag are just electric tape and construction paper.

"Indian Camp" (The teepee was Corgan's birthday present from Landon and me)

The secret entrance to Hangman's Tree! (Complete with tunnel, steps and a slide!)

Nole's Basketball hoop

Here are a few more shots of the DIY basketball hoop I made for Nole for his birthday.

Nole loves basketball hoops.  He finds them everywhere we go and shouts from his car seat "Ball Hoop!"  He sees them so often Corgan has decided that this is Nole's 'magic'. I've been wanting to get an indoor wall hoop for the boys for a while but I hate the way the look.  So I decided to make my own.

To make it I got a car steering wheel cover and some netting material from Jo-Ann Fabrics. I hand sewed the netting onto the cover.  Then I got a canvas that was bigger than the cover and painted it with the green and blue stripes.

I had Landon bolt the steering wheel cover to the wood on the bottom of the canvas.

Then I staple gunned a ribbon onto the back-top of the canvas.

I put two plastic hooks (the sticky-pull-off kind) onto the back of the kids door and hung it up.

When it's not in use I use the ribbon to tie the hoop up.

Nole LOVES it and I'm not visually offended by it. So win-win! You could have a lot of fun with the canvas and the net color/material.

The only thing is that over time the "hoop" starts to get droopy.  But after we tie it up, the next time we let it down it's back to it's springy self!  So not a big deal.  I don't think the kids notice at all.

Nole's Vintage Car Birthday Party

My little baby turned two last month!  What!?!  He really is my little man.  We did a Vintage Car inspired birthday party.  Here's a link to my pinterest page for it.  And here's how ours came out:

We put roads all over our floor with electric tape and painters tape.

We even added an airport...

...and of course a ramp!

When the children got there they were given their own car.

Landon and the boys made this lake.  They had lots of fun adding all the little bits of tape.

Although, truth be told, the kids all had the most fun playing with the balloons!
Here's the food (we also served individual pizzas but those didn't make it into any pictures.):

We have a reason for having such a small cake!  See below.
Here's Nole-Boy opening presents.  Yes, he has no pants.  This happens pretty frequently around here.  We're lucky he had on underwear and a shirt!

The birthday boy blowing out the candles:

And my excuse for not having a bigger cake (and for the giant bandage on my hand. Did you notice it?):

The night before the party I was cutting the electric tape with a really sharp exacto knife.  Towards myself.  Guess I'm no boyscout.  The knife slipped, I sliced open my hand and Landon and I got to spend the evening (Nole's actual birthday) at Urgent Care.  Luckily my neighbor was there to watch the boys at home for us.  And luckily I hit no tendons or veins or anything important.  But my hand was out of commission for a while.  Landon had to finish all the decorations and we had to use the cake I had bought just for our family to have on Nole's real birthday.  Which he didn't get, but didn't care.  And no one else cared either.  We had lots of ice cream.

A few (really unflattering) pictures from Nole's real birthday

You know, for posterity.  Nole woke up to this:

Which he turned into this:

Our birthday tradition is to take a picture each year at our growth chart after we mark the new height. We also take pictures with everyone else.  For scale.  This all happens first thing in the morning.  Which is why I look like this:

Nole was completely naked (as he usually is) for these photos so this was the only one that was internet decent.

Gifts I've made

Dry Erase Boards

Freezer paper stenciled canvas totes

Hand towels

knot baby

Dragon and stamped canvas tote - the boys made the card
I always photograph my crafts with the intention of writing up a whole post about each one.  But inevitably life gets in the way.  So these are a few gifts I've made in the last few months that never found a home on the blog.  All images are unedited, but good enough I guess.  I should go through my older photos and add other homeless crafts as well!
